Miramundo comes from the lesser-known, remote growing region of Pueblo Nuevo Vinas, near Tecuamburro. Javier Fernandez cultivates his coffee at 1500-1700 meters in rich, volcanic soil. Miramundo's remote and rustic locale means that the bourbon, caturra, catuai and venecia varieties that comprise the farm must be transported to the neighboring Santa Ana wet mill for the first stage of processing. From there, they travel again to Bella Vista Mill in Antigua for parchment removal and careful density and color sorting.
The flavor is classic and pleasing: honey, sugared fruits and chocolate, with a velvety body. We also taste figs, ripe cherries and candied oranges too, in a remarkably clean, sweet cup. The rich soil of Miramundo shows itself by bringing a certain density and depth, and there's fruit leather in the sweet finish.
